Michael Sweig is a businessman and international lawyer, with an LL.M in International Taxation, summa cum laude. He is licensed to practice law in Mexico (No. 14200727), a permanent legal resident of Mexico and Uruguay, and a U.S. citizen. From 1999 through 2014, Mr. Sweig taught as a Business Law Professor and served as a registered lobbyist.

Mr. Sweig frequently serves as a Board Member, Operating Officer, or Senior Advisor, and collaborates with lawyers, accountants, investment bankers, and other business professionals. His broad responsibility for client matters began in 1991 as outside and Interim General Counsel to National Education Training Group, Inc., a subsidiary of National Education Corporation (NYSE).

Presently, to serve Uruguay’s twelve free trade zones and other free zones worldwide, Mr. Sweig has launched Zweigenbaum Free Zone Advisors (zweigenbaum.com), a professional services advisory for free trade zone companies covering law, tax, trade finance, government relations, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, and accounting.

Mr. Sweig lives in Montevideo. In 2018, Mr. Sweig and Lic. Prieto founded ResolveGlobal.net, a law and business advisory for family offices and similar stakeholders, focused on cross-border transactions, international tax, offshore structures, and international dispute resolution. Since 2019, Mr. Sweig has served as Party Representative in 14 international arbitrations and numerous mediations.

Manuel Prieto Arellano - Senior Legal Counsel

With over twenty years of legal practice, Manuel Prieto has broad experience ranging from Mexican federal administration to civil, labor, and administrative litigation. He is experienced in public and private contracting and has served as an Assessor for the Morelos Representative Chamber Commission of National Defense. In international law and business, his work includes logistics and transportation, and he is also an entrepreneur.

Public policy and legislative work
Manuel has been active in public policy and legislative advocacy before both the federal and state legislatures in Morelos. Under Legislature 52, he served as Technical Secretary for the Tourism Commission, where he developed law proposals for economic and tourism development for the State of Morelos. He is not licensed in the United States.

Academic roles
He currently teaches Administrative Law, Professional Rhetoric Ethics, and Legal Argumentation at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos.
